Groundhog’s Day 2022

There is no way this winter is ever going to end as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow.

I don’t see any other way out. He’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him. – Phil Connors

Scary 2020s. The ceramic woodchuck is authentic Punxsutawney antique.

[What follows is Happy Groundhog’s Day 2021. My prediction last year was on point. Not much has changed. I have remained in my den since Omicron arrived in Florida. Targeted February 2nd as a day to peek my head out and see if it is safe. Be nice if Governor Ron DeCovidis informed us of the plague’s prevalence hereabouts.]

Feel like a groundhog,

buried in my burrow

for months,

wondering if I should

stick my neck out

and up.

An old Oregonian

in the Sunshine State –

understands his skin

is his largest organ –

appreciates a cloudy day.

I took a look.

Looks scary.

Predicting six more months

in my burrow.

Before I stick my neck out

again.
