Dawns on me.
Today would’ve been my little
brother’s sixty-seventh birthday.
He died at 34.

So often reflect
on all the fun he might’ve had.
Used to think of Michael
as the smart one.
Until he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
With a war going on.
***
We were like two sides of a coin,
completely opposite
and intractably linked.
***
Just glad I’m still here
to remember him.
