Sunday Afternoon (Not Entirely Broke With A Tailwind)

The road must eventually lead to the whole world. – Jack Kerouac

Practically blissed out.

Barker Ajax driving back home

from a brief errand or two.

You have to know Barker to understand.

He’s 75 and the sun is bright

and the sky blue and the music is playing.
I have been to the drugs store, he thinks.

Government selling hash brownies now.

I have been to the liquor store.

Hindus run that.

Damn.  Life is good.

Slow down for a couple of sandhill cranes.

If only there was a pussy store.
He gets home, he tells the wife.

“Honey, you livin’ at the pussy store.”

And she took him by the hand.

The End.

I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.
