Still cleaning computer.  Some more notes from my coaching days. – JDW

My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people would stop dying.  –  Rodney Dangerfield.

What you’ll find is Luck is far luckier than folks would have you believe.  Work hard, sure, but understand, you can wear yourself down to a nub without getting where you want to go.

Always keep going.  Don’t be afraid.

Fear is the raw material from which courage is manufactured. Without it, we wouldn’t even know what it means to be brave.—Martha Beck.

“What is it going to be for you: a positive attitude or a negative attitude?  The choice seems fairly simple, doesn’t it?  The problem is that we often forget we have a choice.  That is one of the master keys to unlocking your greatness in life – exercising your power to choose your attitude and your approach to life’s challenges… You should choose your attitude thoughtfully because it determines how you respond to the many challenges you will encounter.” – Keith Harrell: Attitude is Everything: 10 Life-Changing Steps to Turning Attitude into Action

I don’t know if positive thinking will work in every situation but I know that negative thinking will.

Can’t is one four-letter word you should never say aloud.  Even when alone.  ESPECIALLY when alone.

Proverbs 24:16 exclaims that A just man falls seven times, and rises up again…

This is part of a speech Theodore Roosevelt, President of the United States, gave at the Sorbonne in Paris on the 23rd April 1910.

“Critics are worth absolutely nothing: all they do is point an accusing finger at the moment the strong suffer a defeat, or when they commit a mistake. True credit goes to those who are in the arena, their faces covered in dust and sweat and blood, fighting on bravely.

“True credit goes to the one who makes mistakes, who fails but little by little gets things right, because there is no effort without mistake. He knows great enthusiasm and deep devotion, and spends his energy on something worthwhile. That is the true man, who in the best of hypotheses will know victory and conquest, and in the worst of hypotheses will fall, yet even in his fall he is great, because he has lived with courage and stands above those small-minded souls who will never know victory or defeat.”

It’s easy to have faith in yourself and discipline when you’re number one.  What you’ve got to have is faith and discipline when you are not yet a winner. – Vince Lombardi.

The good news is that mental toughness is a skill that can be learned, and the tougher you get, the bigger you’ll dream and the more fun you’ll have. – Steve Siebold.

“If you spend time being disappointed in anyone for not being able to do what you want them to do, you end up wasting your time.  It’s just more about where you’re going and your direction.”  – Raheem Morris.

“We are not born with unlimited choices… Our job in this lifetime is not to shape ourselves into some ideal that we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.”  – Steve Pressfield.

Let’s read that last quote again.

“We are not born with unlimited choices… Our job in this lifetime is not to shape ourselves into some ideal that we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.”

Sometimes lament I didn’t figure that out much, much sooner.

Much.

Sometimes cheer myself with the thought, hey, at least you finally did.

Almost.

The world needs more heroes.  Become your own.
