Wish My Doctor Was A Clown

Sometimes, the best thing we can do for our patients is to tell them what the best behavior is and then negotiate something they can live with. – Nancy Dickey

The Doctor Visit

Happy it's just pain.
"Nothing we can do to help."
Hereditary.

It is not age that’s important. What is your condition?  How do you FEEL?

Living as I do in a retirement community, I see things. Lost two neighbors recently.

By “recently,” I mean this week.

One, a male, age 65, stroke. Other, female, 63, heart attack.

He had just retired. She was an energetic caretaker of the elderly and the stupid. I know her husband.

So, it’s not age. (Of course, they likely felt good right up until they didn’t.)

The 88-year-old across the street just came back home for church. Drove himself, but that’s another story.

Like to think, if you make it unscathed through your 60s, the 70s are a smooth ride until you become an octogenarian.

Then it’s pretty much hand to hand combat.

If You Have To Ask

What is old age like?
You don't really want to know.
Battle to the death.

I continue to attempt to write The Great American DooDah. DooDah being the English word for “haiku.”

You grow up wanting to write The Great American Novel, flail a few times, realize you may not have what it takes, and so you look for a different format. DooDah works for me.

Sadly, the market for DooDah is surprisingly limited.

The wiser career choice was probably a comedian/emcee at a strip club.

Laughter is the best medicine. But it’s out of network.

Didn’t write that joke. Obviously.

Much too long.

Just Kidding Myself

Know what IS funny?
Old age no joking matter.
You cannot "fix" it.
