Last week, seems like karma,
accidentally found myself watching television
as Tom Watson walked toward
the eighteenth green of the British Open
for the last time.
He was saying goodbye.
“There was just so much joy walking up that hole.
There’s no reason to be sad. I played the game for a long time….
I have some wonderful memories.”
Before the event, Watson told Sports Illustrated:
“It’s starting to hit me.
I’m a little melancholy. It’s like the death of a loved one.
There’s sadness, of course, but you are left with so many memories.
It’s those memories that sustain you.”
Know just how he feels.
Except for the legendary part.
