Letter To An Editor

I can write.
I just cannot necessarily write anything you want to print.
Sometimes you might not even want to read it.
Oh, okay, you will want to read what I write.
But you just might not like what I have to say.
Or how I say it.
Unless you pay me.
Then I can get you whatever you need.
No. that’s not true.
Not any more.
Lost a newspaper column because “Barker Ajax can’t be trusted NOT to tell the truth.”
My own publisher said that.
Apparently, advertisers took exception to my description of the Street of Dreams as ‘a cancerous growth on an already abused landscape.’
My gruff dad told me once, “Son, you don’t have to tell the truth all the time.”
Advice mostly makes me stay quiet and to myself.
Sweet mother told a few, “He’ll never lie to you,” – I like this so much – “but I wouldn’t believe everything he says.”
Which part, I wonder.
Which part?
